SER/VE: Certificates & Awards allow K12 students and educators to learn skills and understandings for working effectively with 21st century technologies. Participants who are invited to work in this private learning area will have opportunites to earn these certificates and awards by completing tasks, creating materials, and joining activities within invitation-only meetings areas. | SER/VE: Virtual / Social Certificates - moving through the basic, intermediate, and advanced levels, you learn how to work within virtually/socially mediated environments; begin with basic avatar interactions and navigation, use of the island and the companions websites, sending friend messages, and understanding coordinates; then join committees and partake in events; and finally advance to creating your own virtual class or experience, complete with your own wiki/website. NOTE: the basic certification is required for any opportunity within SER/VE. |

| SER/VE: Virtual/3D Building - basic, intermediate, and advance levels of building; you can work within a sandbox area in SER/VE using tutorials, practice, and meeting sessions to help you create simple to complex objects; learn how to make objects for sale within the Retail Store on SER/VE. Advanced levels allow the participant to conduct their own 3-D building classes. . |

| SER/VE: STEM Quests - join science, engineering, and mathematics quests and challenges; work individually or in teams - you may need SER/VE Technology & Research Tools Certifications first. |

| SER/VE: Technology & Research Tools - foundational to most technology-mediated activities are a variety of technology tools; learn about or advance your skills in areas ranging from PowerPoint with graphics and animations; to making private YouTubes; to using Google Earth to locate areas; to creating, storing, and sorting digital photographs; to saving e-bookmarks; and to making websites and wikis. You will learn how to use these tools and earn certificates while you research areas of your school interest or areas that you are assigned. |
